I Feel Lucky
I’m lucky to have a job and I’m able to work from home. Very little about my work seems to have been impacted so far. So for eight hours a day, I can forget about everything and just work. JUMP Math has been good to me, and good for me. I’m so happy to work there.
I’m lucky to have a great therapist. It’s not the same as being in person, but she’s been good about online calls. Every two weeks we talk for 45 minutes and it helps ground me in the present time.
I feel lucky that my family is doing well, and that my friends are doing well. Recently, I made a little solution for myself so that if a week goes by without talking to someone I care about, it lets me know. Time is weird right now and I don’t want anyone to fall through the cracks if I can help it.
I’m lucky to have a home where I can more or less accomplish CGP Grey’s idea of “Spaceship You.” This video (embedded above) speaks to how I’ve been seeing this quarantine. I think I mentioned to my therapist that this felt a bit like being in a space ship. You’re surrounded by advanced technology, but if you leave the ship, you potentially put yourself and others in danger. This video felt affirming.
I’m lucky to have have a beautiful and loving partner. It’s our anniversary today. We’ve been married for six years. This quarantine has been a reminder that we picked one another for good reasons. I feel closer to her, very much like we’re in this together. We’ve been doing well during this time. We bought some champagne at the grocery store. Cheers.
I sincerely hope everyone is feeling loved and looked after.
