Import Nintendo Switch footage into Davinci Resolve
So I recorded some gameplay footage on my Nintendo Switch. It’s really easy to do that. You just hold down the share button and it saves the last 30 seconds. I’ve used this footage in a few apps, but lately I’ve been using Davinci Resolve. And for some reason, Davinci Resolve doesn’t understand the mp4 file type that the Nintendo Switch creates.
So I need to change the video type. There’s a thousand ways to do this. At first, I try ShareX. It has a video converter that uses ffmpeg and it’s great. It totally works. But it only works one video at a time, but I held down the Nintendo Switch share button 32 times, which means I have 32 videos. I don’t want to do this 32 times.
After a while, I remembered that VLC also does this, and it does it in batches. I’m writing this because next time, I don’t want it to take as long as it did to remember this. VLC does this annoying thing where it’ll do the job, but then get hung up on error messages. It’s annoying, but you just need to kill the app in task manager afterwards. It’s still worth it. Maybe one day I’ll google how to get around that part. But not today.
